What Our Psychedelic Training Is (and Isn’t)

One of the questions we are often asked is: What does this training qualify me to do? Will I be “licensed” to practise psychedelic-assisted therapy afterwards?

It’s an important question — and one we want to shed some light on.

Certification and credibility

When you complete our program, you will receive an ETI Certification. This is formal recognition that you have undertaken specialist training in psychedelic-assisted facilitation, and it provides evidence of the competencies you have developed. In a field that is still taking shape, this certification is an important marker of credibility - a way of showing that you have invested in rigorous, experiential training with recognised practitioners.

We are also proud to share that our program is one of the first in the Netherlands to be accredited by FGzPT, NVP, and NVvP. Practitioners who are already registered with those professional bodies will receive permanent education (PE) points towards their ongoing professional development.

ETI certification is not a government licence - but it is a recognised standard of training, backed by external accreditation, that demonstrates your commitment and credibility in this field.

No official licence

At the same time, it is important to be clear: there is no international regulatory body that licenses practitioners in psychedelic-assisted therapy. Like most trainings in this field, our certification does not grant you a licence to offer psychedelic therapy in a healthcare or clinical setting. Only a handful of organisations (for example, the Integrative Psychiatry Institute in the US) have programs recognised for a healthcare or clinical setting, and even then, only within certain jurisdictions, and for those who are already licensed mental health professionals.

The landscape is evolving quickly, and different trainings use the word “certification” in different ways. What we can say with certainty is that our focus is not on titles or permissions, but on helping you become a safe, skilled, and ethical space-holder within this growing field.

What our training does

The heart of our training is practical. We want you to leave not just with concepts, but with the lived confidence to guide someone through the entire arc of a psychedelic process — from screening and intake, through preparation and dosing day (or ceremony), and into integration afterwards.

It’s important to be clear that this training does not qualify you to practise as a psychotherapist or clinical provider. Instead, it prepares you to step into the role of facilitator or guide — someone who holds space, ensures safety, and supports the process before, during, and after a psychedelic experience. This role is distinct from therapy, but deeply complementary to it, and requires its own set of skills, ethics, and boundaries.

Alongside this practical focus, we also bring in the theoretical insights that can deepen your understanding and give you a wider frame of reference. Theory supports practice — helping you see the patterns, understand the dynamics, and work with more clarity and compassion.

One of the most essential skills you will learn is recognising who is — and who isn’t — a good fit for psychedelic work. Not every client is ready, and not every facilitator is the right match for every person. Learning to discern these boundaries, and to honour them with care, is at the core of safe and ethical practice.

From there, you will learn how to support preparation and integration, which often hold as much therapeutic weight as the psychedelic journey itself. And when it comes to dosing days, we teach you how to create a safe, steady container. The experience belongs to the participant; your role is to hold space, to be present, and to support when needed — and sometimes to know when to step back and trust the process.

Beyond skills, this training is also about finding your own place in a field that is still evolving. It is about recognising your own boundaries as a practitioner, respecting those of your clients, and understanding the broader context — legal, ethical, and human — in which you are stepping.

Who the program is for

Our training is designed for practitioners who want to start or deepen their ability to hold space in altered states — from therapists, psychiatrists, coaches, and bodyworkers, to those transitioning from adjacent fields. Some arrive with clinical backgrounds, others with lived experience. What unites our cohorts is a shared commitment to practising with integrity, compassion, and care. Note: if you’re currently studying in a related field, please reach out to us to find out about our accessibility fund - we’re offering 5 spaces in our program in 2026.

How the program is structured

Our Core program is made up of two complementary modules:

  • Education Module (remote): an 18-week sequence of lectures and intervision sessions, combining theory with scenario-based practice.

  • Experiential Retreat (Netherlands): a four-day immersion where you step into both roles — participant and facilitator — to experience the work from both sides.

This combination means you are not only learning about psychedelic practice, but also embodying it. You will leave with both a strong intellectual foundation and the lived experience to carry this work forward responsibly.

In October 2026, we’ll also be welcoming practitioners to our intimate Advanced program designed for those who want to deepen their understanding of psychedelic-assisted facilitation through the unique lens of ETI’s approach: being in relation. More details to follow!

The legal landscape

Our experiential retreats are held in the Netherlands, where psilocybin truffles are legal. This allows us to safely and lawfully create a setting where participants can experience both sides of the process — being a participant and being a facilitator — a dual perspective that we believe is essential.

We will also give you a grounding in the legal landscape more broadly, and encourage you to understand the frameworks in your own country. Practising ethically means practising with an awareness of both what is possible and what is not. While we cannot determine what is legal where you live, we will equip you to navigate your own context with clarity and care.

Finding your place in a growing ecosystem

We believe there is no single “right” training. Around the world, there are many excellent programs, each with different styles, formats, and teachers. We encourage you to explore and find the approach that resonates most with you.

What unites all responsible training is an emphasis on boundaries — knowing your own, respecting those of your clients, and being honest about the limits of the law. Our role is to help you understand the terrain, appreciate both the beauty and the challenges, and find your own place within this evolving field.

The ETI Approach

Our Core program offers a comprehensive, practice-driven immersion into psychedelic-assisted facilitation. Over the 18 weeks of remote education and the four-day retreat, we move through the full arc of practice:

  • Foundations of psychedelic work and psilocybin

  • Safety, screening, and preparation

  • Therapeutic approaches, including our ETI-Method™ (a blend of parts work, constellations, Internal Family Systems, and systemic practice)

  • Facilitation during dosing days

  • Integration, embodiment, and microdosing

  • Practitioner ethics, group dynamics, and building a sustainable practice

Learning is grounded in lectures, intervision sessions, and hands-on experience. At the retreat, you will step into both roles — participant and facilitator — to gain a lived understanding of the work from both sides.

Why train with us?

Three things make this program different.

First, it is deeply practical and experiential. You will not only study theory — you will practise it, embody it, and test it in real-world settings.

Second, it is anchored in a supportive community. Beyond the program, you will be able to access a growing network of like-minded practitioners who are navigating this terrain alongside you, as well as apply for internships to support on our small group retreats.

And third, it is personally guided by us. Between us, we bring more than four decades of clinical and relational experience — and combine that with our own work with psychedelics.

  • Hans is a psychiatrist, bonding psychotherapist, and couples and family therapist. He brings medical expertise, pharmacological knowledge, and safety oversight.

  • Jeanine is a psychologist, certified sexologist, and couples and family therapist. She brings expertise in intimacy, sexuality, and emotional connection.

Together, we represent a combination of expertise in psychedelic-assisted therapy, blending clinical knowledge, relational wisdom, and lived experience in a field that is developing at remarkable speed.

The 2026 Cohorts

  • Education Module (Core): February 26th to June 24th, 2026 (10 lectures, 8 intervision sessions, fully remote)

  • Education Module (Advanced): Starting in October 2026 - more details to follow.

  • Experiential 4-Day Retreats: 25th June, 27th August, and 19th November, 2026 (Netherlands)

In summary

This program will not give you a licence. But it will give you something equally important:

The skills to screen and prepare responsibly. The confidence to hold space with steadiness and care. A holistic method rooted in constellations, IFS, and systemic practice. A supportive community of peers. Recognition from established professional bodies. And the guidance of two clinicians who have dedicated their lives to this work.

If you are looking for a training that blends theory with lived practice, clinical grounding with relational wisdom, and ethics with embodied experience, we’d love to welcome you.
